ADES members have developed a raising attainment paper aimed at classroom teachers, schools and local authorities. The paper is split into three parts: (i) a brief paper outlining the context of why we need to raise attainment further, the strategies that have been shown to work and some of the reasons why we are not closing the attainment gap currently with recommendations for change; (ii) a supporting paper outlining the significant research that underpins the claims in the main paper; (iii) an A3 grid detailing the attributes of  classrooms, schools and local authorities that have been successful in raising attainment.

We have been working closely with the Scottish Government on this vital area in recent times and look forward to developing a strong partnership with them and  other interested parties in the coming months and years to help improve the life chances of our children and young people.

Here is an ADES position statement on Curriculum for Excellence which we have issued today to coincide with a Scottish Government announcement on additional resources for CfE. The statement was the outcome of a Directors' summit on CfE and was informed by all Scottish authorities.
